My Favorite Vintage Finds

FRENCH PEEP-TOE SHOES......
I only own one pair of really vintage shoes, but they are of exceptional quality and are in really excellent vintage condition.  They're a pair of brown suede 1940's FRENCH peep toes with leather heels and bow trim.   The inside of the shoes are a beautiful leather with the French brand name in embossed in gold. The soles are leather with the original metal taps on the toes and heels. When I saw them in a thrift store, I almost had a heart attack. You gals know that feeling, don't you? I picked them up from the rack and just prayed that they would be my size.  Amazingly, they fit me perfectly. I clutched them to me until I could get to the counter and hand over the $10.00 on the price tag! I just couldn't believe my luck at spotting them...it was one of, what I like to call, "my skipping to the car" moments!!

HERMÉS (Paris) SCARF...
During my never-ending search for vintage, this past year I was lucky enough to find a never-worn, still folded, Hermès silk scarf in the Les Cles pattern, in its original box, and I was in HEAVEN.   When I opened the beautiful signature orange box, the tissue paper inside was foxed, and my heart skipped a beat.   I held my breath as I opened up the paper, fearing the worst.  But, miracle of miracles, there wasn't a single brown spot on that gorgeous silk fabric!  It was like finding the Holy Grail for me!  Now I've got the pencil skirt, the silk blouse, and THE scarf.  All I need is a plane ticket to PARIS...and...ooh-la-la!
